What is Combination Skin?
When your face is oily in some areas and dry in others, you most likely identify with Combination Skin.
This occurs because sebaceous glands, which are responsible for oil production, work differently in those distinct areas of your face, overproducing oil in some areas and underproducing it in others.
Combination Skin is difficult to treat since you need to guarantee that the products you use work for both, your oily and your dry areas. Balance products’ functionality will be key to achieve healthy skin with a combination nature.
It is said that everyone deals with this type of skin at some point of our lives, while our skin conditions change. We can also experiment this type of skin in repeated short periods of time depending on the internal and external factors that we are exposed to.
For example, an oily skin can become combination during winter. Also, dry skin can become combination during peak hormonal periods.
Do I have Combination Skin?
Check out these symptoms to discover if you relate to these characteristics.
- Your skin shines on at least one portion of your face, it is more often in the T-zone.
- This zone or zones also have larger pores and may experiment blackheads or breakouts.
- You have dry patches in your skin, which often occur in the cheeks, around the mouth, around the eyes, and hair lines.
What shouldn’t I do?
Some people with this type of skin altern products labeled for oily skin and products labeled for dry skin. The combination of these products will NOT make appropriate products for combination skin. If these products contain harsh ingredients to dry the skin or the proportion of oils is too high to moisturize it, you have a high chance to worsen both areas of your skin.
Overuse of inappropriate products can also cause hypersensitivity, which will make your skin profile more difficult to treat.
